If you've just started planning your wedding and wedding budget planning, chances are the first question you asked yourself wasn't "which venue?" or "what theme?" First question that almost everyone gets in mind is What will the total cost?

There's no single template for a Bangalore wedding, some are small, quiet gatherings of twenty people, others stretch across five days and welcome three hundred guests traveling in from around the country. Both are completely valid. The trick isn't spending more or less, it's spending on the right things, in the right order, without any nasty surprises two weeks before the big day.

Here's how we'd suggest approaching it, based on what we've seen work (and not work) across the weddings we've planned.

Wedding Budget Planning in Bangalore Starts with Your Priorities

It's tempting to start with Pinterest boards and venue shortlists. Resist that for a week. Sit down with whoever is contributing financially and land on one number, your absolute total budget. Not a range. A number.

Once you have that, everything else becomes a conversation about trade-offs rather than a runaway spiral. Want a bigger guest list? Something else has to give. Want a five-star venue? The decor budget probably needs to shrink. This isn't a restriction, it's actually what makes decisions easier later.

Know where the money actually goes

In our experience, most Bangalore weddings roughly break down like this:

  • Venue and catering: 40-50

  • Decorations and styling: 15-20%

  • Photography and videography: 8-10 %

  • Entertainment (DJ, live music, performers): 5-8%

  • Outfits, hair, and makeup: 8-10%

  • Everything else (invitations, transport, gifting, miscellaneous): the remaining 10-15%

Notice how venue and catering eat up nearly half the budget. This is usually where couples either save the most money or overspend the most, so it deserves the first serious conversation, before you fall in love with a venue that doesn't fit.

The three costs everyone forgets

Even careful planners tend to underestimate these:

Vendor travel and stay. If your photographer, makeup artist, or decor team needs to travel or stay overnight, that's a cost separate from their service fee.

Taxes and service charges. Venues and caterers often quote a base price that doesn't include GST or service charge, ask explicitly, every time.

The "just in case" buffer. Something always comes up, a last-minute guest addition, a weather related backup plan, an extra round of flowers because the first batch didn't look quite right. Keep 8 to 10 percent of your total budget untouched until the very end.

Decide what is the first preference and What's optional

This sounds obvious, but it's the single biggest thing that saves people from overspending. Sit down early and rank these in order of what actually matters to you:

  • The venue

  • The food

  • The photography

  • The decor

  • The guest count

  • The outfits

Whatever's at the bottom of your list is where you compromise first when the budget gets tight. Whatever's at the top is where you protect the spend. People who skip this step tend to say yes to every upgrade in the moment, because everything feels important when you're sitting across from a vendor.

Work with someone who can tell you the truth:

A good planner isn't just there to make things look beautiful, they're there to tell you honestly when a vendor's quote is inflated, when a "must have" isn't actually worth it, or when a cheaper alternative would look just as good. That honesty is worth more than people expect going in.

At Snow Fox Events, one of the first things we do with any people is exactly this exercise, understanding the real number, mapping it against what matters most to them, and building a plan that doesn't require compromise on the things they care about. Bangalore has an incredible range of venues and vendors at every price, the goal is simply matching the right ones to your priorities.

If you're in the early stages of planning and want a second opinion on your budget before you commit to anything, we're always happy to have that conversation.
